biography Glenys Jones was born in Ballarat and educated at the Ballarat School of Mines. She currently resides in Melbourne. At primary school she loved to draw and paint however only became serious about painting in the mid eighties when she commenced oil painting in the tonal method at the Ron Crawford School of Art for two years. Further tonal studies were undertaken at the Victorian Artists Society with Shirley Bourne and Maxwell Wilks. Glenys has more recently taken up watercolour under the guidance of David Taylor and Malcolm Beattie and finds this the most challenging of all mediums. She has a preference for plein air painting and her subjects include landscape, seascape, still life and portraiture. Glenys is a member of The Victorian Artists Society and The Malvern Artists Society. She has held solo and group exhibitions and regularly exhibits in art shows in Melbourne and country Victoria. She has won several awards and commendations, the most recent being Best Oil at the 2003 Ivanhoe Art Show. Her work is represented in private and corporate collections both in Australia and overseas. |
