biography Ron Muller is widely recognised as an outstanding professional artist and teacher. He has conducted workshops throughout Australia as well as tours to Tuscany and France and is a regular tutor with the Doncaster Artist Society. Ron was a student of the late C. Dudley Wood, an eminent Australian watercolourist. Ron travels widely conducting workshops in Victoria and interstate. Ron’s approach to watercolour seeks to capture the light, atmosphere and natural beauty of the landscape within the Romantic tradition. The goal for Ron is to use composition, tone and colour to create a little “visible poetry” that appeals to the imagination and the emotions. The February 1995 issue of the “Australian Artist” featured a cover article on Ron’s work entitled ”A Romantic view of Watercolour”. He has won numerous awards including the Camberwell Rotary Norwich Award in 1992, 1994 and 1995. He was selected as one of the Australian watercolourists in the Chinese-Australia Watercolour Cultural Exchange exhibitions and is a member of the Victorian Artists Society and Victorian Watercolour Society. Ron held his first solo exhibition for many years at Kew Gallery in 2001 and followed this with another successful exhibition in 2004. He travels widely and finds the most enduring value of travel is the renewed appreciation of home, especially the light and atmosphere of the Australian landscape. Ron hopes that he succeeds in sharing his interpretation of the beauty of our natural environment, which in his view must not only be preserved for its own sake but also for the refreshment of the human spirit. |
